The Sounds penchant for displaying for male nudity or near-nudity is really quite peculiar

Angus Young really is diminutive - I guess he shrewdly decided to make that work for him in the stage image 

Calling AC/DC "Old Wave" isn't quite fair - they were as punky as the punks, almost - and almost pitched to the market as the most New Wave aligned of the hard rock groups. Them and Motorhead.

What was it with Sounds's fixation on showing rock stars in the nuddy?

Ooh another one pops up from Sounds Clips - not nuddy but nearly nuddy.  Plus a suggestive caption.

Yes that is Angus Young of AC/DC in a skimpy, almost bikini-like set of briefs in an exotic pattern. The caption reads "the things I can do with a Bounty bar".
